“Disaster!,” a spoof of disaster movies, brings chaos to the stage at 7 p.m. March 2, 3, 4; 2 p.m. March 5, auditorium, Northwestern Lehigh High School, 6493 Route 309, New Tripoli, Lynn Township.
Director Bill Mutimer, Producing Artistic Director of NCC Summer Theater, is assisted by music director Chad Miller and choreographer Tina Williams. Costumes are by Jill Danner, lights by Brett Oliveira, sound by JT Moyer, and scenery direction by Sol Johri and Mike Wertman.
The plot involves several New Yorkers attending the opening of a floating casino and disco that is beset with multiple disasters, which mirror themes from movies such as “Earthquake” (1974).
The musical features pop songs, including “Hot Stuff,” “Knock on Wood,” “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” “Still the One” and “25 or 6 to 4.”
The musical comedy, created by Seth Rudetsky and written by Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick, premiered on Broadway in 2016, receiving one Tony Award nomination.
