The District 11 basketball tournaments get underway this week with Liberty and Bethlehem Catholic playing this weekend.

In the 6A bracket, only six teams qualified for the tournament with Freedom earning a first round bye coming in as the second seed.

The Hurricanes enter the 6A tournament as the fourth-seed and open with fifth-seeded Allen at 6 p.m. Friday at Easton in the quarterfinal round.

The winner of that contest will play top-seeded Emmaus on March 1 in the quarterfinals.

In the bottom half of the bracket, third-seeded Parkland takes on sixth-seeded Northampton in the night cap at Easton Friday night.

Freedom will play the winner of the Parkland-Northampton matchup on March 1 as well.

In 4A, defending district champion Bethlehem Catholic earned the fourth-seed and take on fifth-seeded Wilson Thursday at 6 p.m. at Allen.

The winner will play top-seeded Blue Mountain on February 28th.

On the other side of the bracket, second-seeded Central Catholic squares off against seventh-seeded Northwestern in the second game at Allen on Thursday night. The winner moves on to play either third-seeded North Schuylkill or sixth-seeded Pottsville.

On the girls side, Liberty will travel to Pleasant Valley to play Pocono Mountain West at 6 p.m. Friday in 6A action. Liberty is the seven seed while PMW is the two seed.

Becahi earned the top seed in 5A and will play Whitehall in the opening game, set for March 1 in a location to be determined.
