The Parkland girls swimming team is like a shark - always moving.
The Trojans always seem to moving to the winner’s circle, and last Tuesday afternoon was no exception as they dismissed Liberty 130-49. The win improved their season record to 11-1.
While the triumph over the Hurricanes was a team effort, a few swimmers led the way.
Milla Hahn won two races - the 100-yard fly and the 200-yard individual medley - and Simone Lin took the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle competitions. Both girls have been outstanding all season and should factor significantly in the Trojans’ postseason.
Ashley Settle is another swimmer who has meant much to the Parkland cause in the 2022-2023 season. The senior won the 100-yard freestyle race registering a 57.03 time, and took silver in the 100-yard breaststroke against the Hurricanes. Junior Madison Roseman was tops in the 50-yard freestyle race and finished second in the 100-yard freestyle.
Freshman Kelsey McPeek swam a strong race in winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:10 and took second place in the 200-yard IM. Sophomore Emma Kushner emerged victorious in the 100-yard backstroke with a 1:06 performance.
“The athletes come to practice every day ready to work and are putting in the time in the pool as well as with our strength and conditioning coach Kenrick Smith,” Parkland coach Allison McPeek said.
