Catty Seniors Plus will meet Feb. 22 at the Slovak Center Social Center, 1233 Fifth St. Doors open noon, and the meeting starts 1 p.m.
This is Ash Wednesday, and a short Lenten service will be held, followed by distribution of ashes. Pastor Michael McGowan from Grace United Church of Christ, Northampton, will be doing the service.
Participation is not required.
Dessert and coffee will be served, followed by bingo.

North Catasauqua Police Department is hosting a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events course 10-11:30 a.m. April 15 at Suburban North Family YMCA, 880 Walnut St. The course is offered at no cost to attendees.
The CRASE course teaches civilians what they should do if confronted with an active shooter event. It is designed around the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed in 2004 and provides strategies and guidance for surviving an active shooter situation. Discussion topics will include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues and considerations for conducting drills.
