Sunday’s 38-35 loss by the Eagles in Super Bowl LVII to the Kansas City Chiefs is the perfect time for everyone to learn some lessons on how to be a gracious loser and how to survive a disappointment.

Despite the hype, the millions of dollars spent and a year of hard training, the championship came down to the final seconds of the game when the Chiefs made a field goal - so close, but no trophy for the Eagles.

Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham offered his teammates, or anyone who has fallen short of his or her goal, what I think is the best advise going forward:

“Hold your head up,” Graham said after the game. “Hold your head up. This will definitely make me stronger for the comeback.”

Children and adults need to take this advice to heart.

Whether earning a lower grade than expected on a test or not receiving an anticipated promotion, there is no shame in losing.

Acknowledge the disappointment and move on.

Don’t quit. Try harder.

There is always next year.
