East Penn School District spring theater season begins

The next meeting for the Lower Lehigh AARP will be held noon March 2 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Hall. For more information, contact Dot at 610-967-3284.
The Lower Macungie Township Senior Citizens will meet noon Feb. 21. Entertainment will be country music singer Tara Weiliker. The meeting March 7 will be a potluck soup meal as well as a food bank collection. Yearly dues will be collected through March 21.
The Emmaus High School Drama Department will present “Fiddler on the Roof” 7 p.m. March 29, 30, 31 and April 1 and 2 p.m. April 1 and 2. There will be a Gold Card preview performance 6 p.m. March 28. Lower Macungie Middle School will present the musical “Annie” 7 p.m. March 23, 24 and 25 and 2 p.m. March 25.
Eyer Middle School will present “Singin’ in the Rain, Jr.” 7 p.m. March 2, 3 and 4 and 2 p.m. March 4.
Lower Macungie offers garden plot rentals on Bogie Avenue. Those who rented plots last year can now renew their plot rental for 2023 through Feb. 28. Starting March 1, plots are available to rent on a first-come, first-serve basis for residents and nonresidents. Contact the Lower Macungie Community Center for more information.

Lower Macungie Township offers many programs for adults and children. For more information, go to http://www.lowermac.com/recreation/activities-programs/. Classes include adult yoga and dance, baking classes, Kindermusik, Safesitter and children’s sport classes.
The community center is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Staff will be available by phone 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 610-966-6924. Updates will also be posted on Facebook and www.lowermac.com.
Winter yard waste center hours for January and February are noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Yard waste permits are required for drop-off. The center is located at 5536 Indian Creek Road, Macungie.
Lower Macungie Library hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The book drop is open 24/7. The library now offers notary service.
Tax forms are available in the library.
“If I Were the President” for grades 2-5 will meet 10:30 a.m. Feb. 20. There will be stories, activities and President bingo.
“Get In The Game,” an evening of board games for all ages, will be held 6:30 p.m. Feb. 21.
There will be a Homeschool Hour for grades K-5 2 p.m. Feb. 21. This month’s class will focus on polar bears, Inuit people and the Arctic.
Creation Station Crafts for ages 2 and up will be held 6:30-7:15 p.m. Feb. 27.
The Lower Macungie Library Book Club book for 10:30 a.m. to noon March 1 is “The Four Winds” by Kristin Hannah. The book for April 5 is “Anxious People” by Fredrik Backman. The book club meets virtually.
Draw Something ... and Make It Cute! for grades 1-5 will meet 10:30 a.m. March 10.
There will be a Teen Advisory Board meeting 2 p.m. March 10 for grades 6-12. After a short business meeting, students will create a Women’s History Month display.
Books and Beyond will meet 7 p.m. March 13 to discuss “The Other Einstein” by Marie Benedict.
The Builders Club for grades K-5 will be held 6:30-7:15 p.m. March 13.
There will be a Build It! Block Party for ages 2-6 years 10:30-11:15 a.m. March 15.
There will be a “Sew Cute! Sewing Workshop” for grades 6-12 10:30 a.m. March 18.
