Volunteer opportunities

DAT Duty Officers are the linchpins that hold a Red Cross disaster response together. DAT Duty Officers receive notification from clients and agencies requesting assistance during a fire, flood, or other disaster and then deploy the most appropriate resources to support those efforts. Join Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lehigh Valley in launching a new mentoring program - Sports Buddies. This program will provide opportunities for Littles to experience new physical activities and sporting events. Do you play the piano? Will you help our residents enjoy their Sunday church service through song? Cedarbrook Senior Care & Rehab in Allentown needs a volunteer to play hymns for one hour a month (2-3 p.m.) at our Sunday church service. Background check and COVID-19 vaccinations required. Join the Lehigh Valley Zoo Volunteer Program. Located in Schnecksville, LV Zoo is open all year 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. November to March and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April to October. We are looking for volunteers to help further our mission of conservation and education as a docent, crafts and activities volunteer, clean team member or in one of the other volunteer positions. A one-acre garden, called the Easton Urban Farm, supplies fresh produce, as well as flowers, each summer to underserved neighborhoods. Three times a week, volunteers are needed to prepare rows, plant, weed, compost, water, pick and bundle and transport veggies to food pantries and senior centers in Easton. They are looking for volunteers who can commit to the same day/time every week. Clearances required. Orientation provided by The Easton Neighborhood Center Feb. 25. Work begins March 18. The Gress Mountain Ranch in Orefield has eight to 10 large piles of leaves at the end of the driveway needing to be moved and dispersed into a wooded area on the ranch. Wildlands Conservancy is looking for assistance in repainting and removing carpet from a cabin located at the Dorothy Rider Pool Sanctuary in Emmaus. This will be a multi-day opportunity, but they aren’t asking for any group to commit to all days. They have an urgent timeline to complete this project ASAP, so project dates are flexible. Looking for a fun and engaging activity with friends? Why not become a Zoellner Arts Center volunteer usher. Volunteer on a show-to-show basis, mostly nights and weekends. Responsibilities include greeting patrons, scanning tickets, assisting patrons to their seats and being trained on the center’s safety and evacuation protocols.
