At the Feb. 2 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, a conditional use hearing was held for FireFly Technologies, Inc. This project is for ultralight manufacturing to be housed at 6265 Hamilton Blvd., between Mill Creek Road and Grange Road. The company will occupy Suites 4 and 6 and will conduct light manufacturing which involves electric wiring harnesses and control panels. This was approved.
There is a road being renamed officially in the AllenWest Estates along Brookside Road in Wescosville near the elementary school. The road being confirmed is Spruce Road. It has been made official due to the frequency of the name being used as Spruce Street. This was approved.
Resolution 2023-06 authorizes traffic signal maintenance with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. These traffic signal applications involve 10 intersections from Mill Creek Road through Brookside Road along Hamilton Boulevard. This was approved.
Robert Rust resigned from the planning commission effective March 1. The commissioners accepted his resignation with regret.
There were two candidates appointed to the Library Board of Directors with terms expiring Jan. 31, 2026. Jason Raines and George Doughty were appointed.
The animal control services contract with the Sanctuary at Haafsville was approved for 2023. The fund balance policy was updated and approved.
Approval was granted for participation in the sewer grouting project with Lehigh County Authority not to exceed $200,000.
An executive session was held for land acquisition.
The next board of commissioners meeting will be held 6 p.m. Feb. 16.
