In response to requests from members, Union Lutheran Church, Schnecksville, is offering a service of praise one Sunday per month, February to July.
The church’s praise band leads the service, accompanied by guitar, drums and piano.
The praise service will usually be the second Sunday of the month, except in April due to Easter.
If other special occasions fall on the second Sunday, the praise service will move to the third Sunday.
Director of Music Susan Frickert invites vocalists and guitarists who would like to participate to come to rehearsals at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays.
Union Lutheran had a new gifted organ installed recently, which Frickert plans to feature in the traditional worship services which include a blend of musical styles.
Church members have been collecting cans of soup as a project leading up to Souper Bowl Sunday, Feb. 12.
The church has staged a competition for people to vote with their soup contributions for either the AFC or NFC team.
Pastor Gordon Camp has been reporting on the team scores each week.
On Super Sunday, big metal cook pots will be passed for people to throw in their change and make a loud donation to the effort.
The soup and contributions will be distributed to Parkland CARES, the Northern Lehigh Food Bank, and the Little Pantry at the church, as part of the endeavor to tackle hunger.
