New township fee schedule approved for 2023 in Salisbury

A new fee schedule for 2023 has been approved in Salisbury Township.
The 15-page document pertains to, among other township ordinances, regulations and enforcement: fire safety inspection; subdivision, land development and grading; plumbing licensing and zoning.
The Salisbury Township Board of Commissioners voted 3-0, with two commissioners absent, at the Jan. 26 meeting to approve a resolution for the 2023 fee schedule. Commissioner Alex Karol made the motion, seconded by Commissioner Alok Patnaik, to bring the resolution to a vote.
The meeting was chaired by Commissioner Heather Lipkin.
Under the finance department category of the schedule of fees, the lien administration fee increases from $310 to $325 per lien filed.
Fire safety inspections, which have increased, range from $80 to $800, based on square footage.
On-lot sewer systems have a range of fees based on increases by Lehigh Soils and Wetlands.
For streets and sidewalks, fees are up. The permit fee is $150 for a new installation of curbing.
Under the subdivision, land development and grading section, the hourly legal fee for the township solicitor is $195 per hour and the hourly engineer fee for the senior municipal engineer is $130 per hour.
Under zoning, an appeal to the zoning hearing board for a special exception, residential, is $1,200.

In other business at the Jan. 26 meeting, commissioners voted 3-0 to approve:
- A resolution appointing the township sewage enforcement officer and alternates for 2023. Patnaik made the motion, seconded by Karol, to bring the resolution to a vote.
Scott Bieber of Lehigh Soils and Wetlands, Inc., 6071 St. Peters Road, Emmaus, is the primary township sewage enforcement officer.
Alternate sewage enforcement officers are Ian Farrell of Lehigh Soils and Wetlands and Christopher A. Taylor, Luke E. Eggert, James P. Haklar and Jacob A. Schray of Hanover Engineering Associates, 252 Brodhead Road, Suite 100, Bethlehem.
Terms expire Jan. 1, 2024 or a prior date at the discretion of the board of commissioners.
- A resolution appointing the township alternate engineer for 2023. Karol made the motion, seconded by Patnaik, to bring the resolution to a vote.
The alternate township engineer is Hanover Engineering Associates, Inc., 252 Brodhead Road, Suite 100, Bethlehem. The term expires Jan. 1, 2024 or a prior date at the discretion of the board of commissioners.
In his report to commissioners, Salisbury Township Chief of Police Donald Sabo thanked Kenneth Wied for a $1,000 donation from the Tall Cedars of Lebanon of North America, Allentown. The donation will go toward traffic safety enforcement in the township.
