Neil O. Reichard
Neil O. Reichard, 86, husband of Judith Hackman Reichard, died Jan. 20, 2023, in Wesley Commons, Greenwood, S.C.
Born June 19, 1936, in Allentown, he was a son of the late Clarence A. and Bernetta Parry Reichard.
He graduated from Allentown High School where he participated in track and football, and afterward, graduated from Blair Academy where he was a member of the track team and the undefeated New Jersey State Prep champion football team.
He earned a degree from Lehigh University after which he was employed by his family’s business, Robert A. Reichard Inc. as a plant manager.
As the industry changed, the business was acquired by Lebanon Seaboard Corporation and he soon became the operations manager for its agricultural division.
His servant’s heart and civic minded spirit kept him involved in many organizations in which he served in many capacities including the Pennsylvania National Guard, past member of the Board of Governors of the Allentown Chamber of Commerce, past board member of the National Fertilizer Solutions Association, Allentown Jaycees and past president of The Exchange Club of Western Lehigh.
As a member of St. Luke’s Evangelical Lutheran Church for 65 years, he served as Sunday School teacher for 27 years and on church council for many years. Since moving to Savannah Lakes Village, S.C., in 2005, he and his wife have been members of The Lutheran Church By The Lake, McCormick, S.C.
His interests included golfing and traveling with his wife on river cruises in Europe.
Also, his fascination with cars and history of automobile development compelled him to become active in The McCormick Car Club.
Spending time golfing with his sons and grandchildren and attending their various sports activities always made him very proud of whatever they were involved in.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, Judith Hackman Reichard, he is survived by sons Todd D. Reichard and wife, Pam, of Greenville, S.C., Scott O. Reichard and wife, Whitney, of Knoxville, Tenn. and Kevin N. Reichard and wife, Jen, of Leesburg, Va.; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Sally Reichard, and Lori Lukow and her husband, Eugene; a niece; and three nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Clarence A. “Skip” Reichard.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Feb. 11 at The Lutheran Church By The Lake with Pastor Wayne Young officiating.
