The District 11 team wrestling champion ships will take place on Saturday at Freedom High School.

Both 3A and 2A classes will run at Freedom in the now one-day event for the tournament.

Quarterfinal round begins at 9 a.m. and semifinals will take place at 1 p.m.

Championship finals are set for 5:30 p.m.

The top eight teams in each classification will qualify for the tournament, as seeding will be determined on February 2.

So far, four teams (Bethlehem Catholic, Pottsville, Nazareth and Northampton) have clinched 3A berths coming into the week, while seven teams (Saucon Valley, North Schuylkill, Notre Dame, Lehighton, Pen Argyl, Catasauqua and Blue Mountain) have clinched spots in 2A.

There will be no true-second place match this year either, as both finalists in each class will secure a berth to next week’s PIAA tournament, which gets underway with the opening round on Monday.

Bethlehem Catholic and Notre Dame have won their respective district titles the past two seasons. The Golden Hawks were also the PIAA 3A champion last season, while Saucon Valley won the 2A state crown.
