Hokendauqua: Indoor public swim open to Whitehall, Coplay residents

Whitehall Township will hold indoor public swim sessions, for Whitehall and Coplay residents, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays through March 29 in the Whitehall High School natatorium, 3800 Mechanicsville Road.

No registration is required, but you must show your photo ID.

Sessions will be canceled if Whitehall-Coplay School District is closed for a holiday, teacher in-service or inclement weather.

Children under the age of 10 must be supervised by a parent/legal guardian. Further, any child in need of a flotation device must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian while in the pool.

Whitehall Bible Fellowship Church, 3300 Seventh St., will be the host of Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative’s free community meal Feb. 21.

Low-income Whitehall and Coplay residents are welcome to enjoy a meal 4-6 p.m. for a sit-down dinner with others. Meals are guaranteed for the first 100 guests.

In continuation of its Bob Warke-Dale Horn Scholarship program, Hokendauqua Park and Playground Association will again be awarding two $1,000 scholarships.

To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be a Class of 2023 high school-eligible graduate; be continuing your education in the fall of 2023; have participated in HPPA’s baseball, softball or basketball youth programs; and complete the scholarship application form and return it to HPPA before Feb. 28.

Additional requirements are listed on the application on the HPPA website.

At HPPA’s March/April meetings, the organization will review the applications and select one girl and one boy to receive scholarships.

HPPA announced its baseball and softball registrations for the 2023 season are now open at hokeypark.com.

HPPA will be hosting teams for the following ages - girls: K to 18U; boys: K to 19; baseball (T-ball and Grasshoppers): 4.5 to 8 years old; baseball (Biddy, Midget and Knee-Hi): 8 to 15 years old; baseball (Majors): 14 to 18 years old; softball: coed T-ball or 8U softball; and softball: 10U, 12U, 14U and 18U.

Whitehall has aqua aerobics classes scheduled for 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays March 21-May 16. There will be no class April 6.

Classes will take place in the WHS natatorium.

The cost is $55 for residents and $65 for nonresidents.
