Salisbury wrestling returned to the mat Monday night when the Falcons hosted Panther Valley in a non-league matchup. The Falcons (4-5 overall, 2-5 Colonial) were not exactly gracious hosts as they downed the Panthers 51-18.
The meet opened with a double forfeit at 107 pounds and the Panthers got a win by fall at 114 and a win by forfeit at 121 to go up 12-0. From there, it was all Salisbury as Falcon wrestlers won nine matches, eight of them by falls.
Edwin Serrano, Jr. (127 pounds), John Samy (133), Jordan Tocci-Wachter (139), Mason Holva (145) Nate Tone (152), Toby Linn (160), Jakub Gloc (189), and Mitchell Miller (285) all recorded pins. Linn’s fall came in just :26 and Gloc took down Chase Hower in a mere :40 to win their matches. Jacob Watson picked up a 2-1 decision over Mergim Bushati at 172 pounds.
Samy is now at 21 wins on the season, closing in on his career high of 27 wins that he set last season when he finished second at districts for the second straight year. In his career, Samy now has a record of 77-29.
The Falcons also faced Notre Dame (Green Pond) last week and fell 47-18 to the Crusaders, whose only loss this season came to Bethlehem Catholic by a 29-23 margin. Notre Dame is unbeaten in Colonial League matches this season, including a win over defending champ Saucon Valley.
The Falcons won four bouts against Notre Dame. Tone pinned his Notre Dame opponent, while Gloc and Samy won by decision and Jaxon McGuckin picked up a forfeit win.
The final regular season dual match is against Southern Lehigh (8-10, 3-4) on Wednesday.
