Parkland School Board has approved purchase of nine 72 passenger buses from Rohrer Bus Sales at a cost of $1,173,627.

The amount is based upon a unit price of $131,603 and includes a trade-in value of $10,800 for nine buses.

Director of School Services Dave Keppel stated the district also needs a new 36-passenger bus in the fleet.

The board approved purchase of the smaller capacity bus at a cost of $113,868.

Buses will be paid from the Capital Projects Fund.

At the December 2022 meeting, school directors authorized a contract with the McClure Company for replacement of all Parkway Manor Elementary School heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.

The total amount of $3,395,819 includes engineering, construction, project management, and a one-year maintenance agreement.

Approximately $3 million will be applied for payment from the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund, and the district will draw from the Capital Projects Fund for the remainder.

The HVAC work is planned for completion by summer 2023.

Moving on to a different Parkway Manor item, the board approved a quote from Singer Equipment Company for the purchase of a new steamer at a cost of $21,160.

Food Service Director Lori Seier reported the current steamer is failing and needs to be replaced.

For the high school, the board approved purchase of a 33-inch, walk behind electric floor scrubber from Northeast Janitorial Supply at a cost of $16,000.

Keppel noted the existing machine is out of service.

In another matter, the board authorized an agreement between TWG Security and the district for interior and exterior cameras for the addition at Kratzer Elementary School at a cost of $16,476.

Tom Derhammer, director of technology, explained the cameras are the same as in other buildings to maintain consistency.

He said TWG security worked with the floor layout and building design to plan for the cameras.

The electrical contractor on-site at Kratzer will be responsible for the installation.
