James R. Hersh Sr., 83, formerly of Schnecksville, died on Jan. 20, 2023, in Fellowship Manor, Whitehall, where he had been residing.

He was the husband of the late Barbara L. (Smith) Hersh.

Born June 30, 1939, in Allentown, he was the son of the late John F. Hersh Sr. and Elsie M. (Reith) Hersh.

He was a maintenance supervisor at Mack Trucks Inc., both in the Allentown and Macungie plants for 27 years before retiring in 2001.

Before that, he worked at Lehigh Portland Cemetery Co., Fogelsville, for 14 years.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Fogelsville.

His survivors include children Bonnie L. Moyer (Danny) of Whitehall, Sharon L. Beck of Slatington, James R. Hersh, Jr. (Patricia) of Orefield, Amy S. Phillips of Philadelphia, and Jessica A. Jackovitz (Raymond) of Slatington; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, John F. Hersh Jr.
