Bette “Betsy” J. Kramm, 81, of Whitehall, died Jan. 18, 2023. She was the wife of Wayne F. Merkel for 38 years and of the late Mathew M. Kramm Jr.

Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Robert Lawrence and Elsie (Moyer) Naus.

She worked at Rodale Press. She was the owner of the Bette J. Kramm Store in the Richlandtown Mall.

She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Mickleys.

She volunteered with Whitehall Food Pantry and at the Allentown Art Museum. She enjoyed costuming for the Guthsville Playhouse, Allentown. She was a member of various quilting and needlepoint organizations in the greater Lehigh Valley.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Mathew III and wife Anna M. of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Victoria Jennings and husband Michael of Osyka, Miss., and Jennifer Rowe and husband Derek of Northfield, N.J.; a sister, Susan Dengler and husband H. Lee of Goshen, Ind.; a sister-in-law, Nyda J. Naus Muschlitz of Allentown; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nephews; nieces; and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother, David L.
