At the Jan. 10 meeting, the Allen Township Board of Supervisors approved the purchase of a mini excavator and two traffic messaging signs.
The mini excavator was discussed as a part of the 2023 budget. The township will use funds from the sewer and general accounts to purchase a $73,172.63 Kubota U55 mini excavator.
The supervisors also discussed the purchase of traffic messaging signs, as a part of the Grow NORCO grant. Allen Township received $9,000 for the project. The township will pay an additional $25,370 using American Rescue Plan funds.
The mobile messaging signs will be used in work zones to keep crews safer and will alert drivers of urgent announcements related to safety and speeding.
In other business, the supervisors unanimously approved the sewer planning module for Setter Hill Beverage LLC.
Setter Hill, a special events center, received approval from the board in October 2022. The proposed center would be located at 639 Old Carriage Road and includes a two-story building, a cottage, a wedding venue/chapel and a horse-riding stable.
Additionally, the supervisors approved an intermunicipal liquor license transfer from Black and Blue to Setter Hill.
The supervisors will next meet 6 p.m. Feb. 14 in the fire department building, 3530 Howertown Road.
