Egypt/Cementon: Fire company plans events

Laurel Fire Company, 5114 Third St., Cementon, will be hosting an Aunt Ophila’s Authentic Mexican Night 5-8 p.m. Jan. 20.

Choose from jumbo coconut shrimp, beef taco, chicken tostada and homemade Mexican rice. There is a cost.

Additionally, the fire company will hold an all-you-can-eat breakfast 8-11:30 a.m. Jan. 22.

The menu includes scrambled eggs with or without sausage and cheese, Canadian bacon, creamed chip beef with biscuits, French toast, home fries, coffee, milk, chocolate milk and apple juice. There is a cost, but children 4 and under eat for free.

The youth group of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4331 Main St., Egypt, will hold a hoagie fundraiser Jan. 22-Feb. 5 with delivery on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 12.

In other church news, youth Sunday will take place Jan. 29 at the 8 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services. Support the youth group as it leads the congregation in song, sermon and prayer.

Spring 2023 sign-ups are open for Egypt Memorial Park’s baseball and softball programs for ages 5-18.

Baseball registration closes April 1, and registration for softball closes May 1.

Both seasons begin March 1 and end Oct. 31.

The Dan Schantz Greenhouse Monthly Madness flower of the month fundraiser is continuing. Punch cards are available for purchase and will allow you to receive an item each month from Dan Schantz for an entire year. The cards have no expiration date.
