East Allen supervisors reelect Unangst, Schwartz
At its Jan. 3 meeting, East Allen Township Board of Supervisors reorganized for the new year.
The Pennsylvania Township Code requires townships reorganize in January. The chair and vice chair positions remained unchanged from 2022.
Supervisor Roger Unangst was reelected as the board chairman.
“Thank you for your trust,” Unangst said to his colleagues after the vote.
Supervisor Mark Schwartz was reelected vice chairman of the board.
The board reappointed Kate Hall as township secretary and Christine Wentz as township treasurer. Joseph Piperato was reappointed as the solicitor.
The board made approximately two dozen other nonelected township officials appointments.
All appointments will be posted on the township website, eatwp.org.
Six resolutions were passed.
Resolution 2023-01 established the township manager’s annual compensation at $82,725.
Resolution 2023-02 approved the appointment of Campbell, Rappold & Yurasits LLP to conduct the 2022 audit of the township finances at a fee not to exceed $10,000.
The 2023 township fee schedule was adopted via resolution 2023-03.
Resolution 2023-04 was adopted to establish the 2023 fire hydrant tax at $30 per household with a fire hydrant within 780 feet of their home.
Resolution 2023-05 was approved to designate Embassy Bank for the Lehigh Valley as the township’s depositories for 2023.
All supervisors, the township manager and the treasurer were designated bank signatories for the township per the passage of resolution 2023-06.

Supervisors voted to hold monthly workshops only when there are enough agenda or supervisor business matters to address.
The board also began a preliminary discussion about a Bath Borough request that might allow the East Allen Township Emergency Management leader to assist Bath. Another discussion will be on the next meeting agenda.
The next East Allen Township Board of Supervisors meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Jan. 11 at the municipal building, 5344 Nor-Bath Blvd.
