William Graul Jr.
William “Jack” J. Graul Jr. 80, of Allentown, died Jan. 1, 2023, in his home surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with COPD.
He and his wife, Marnell (Lovelace) Graul, were together 33 years.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late William J. Graul Sr. and Catherine (Schubert) Graul.
A 1960 graduate of Parkland High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army following graduation and served for three years in Germany during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He then attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. After graduation, he joined his father in business as an insurance agent for the Stimmel and Graul Insurors and Realtors.
He went on to own and operate the business until 2012.
A member of the Quakertown and former Allentown Sertoma clubs, he served as the treasure more than 30 years.
He was one of the original members of the Allentown Jaycees and was very instrumental in organizing the Big Brother and Big Sister program, where he served on the board for many years.
He spent more than 27 summers in Wildwood where he enjoyed his boat and deep-sea fishing. He was also an avid motorcyclist.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Lisa Graul-Oswald of Davidson, N.C.; son William J. Graul III and his wife, Paula, of South Carolina; grandchildren William J. Graul IV and Derek Oswald; stepdaughters Valerie J. Voltz and her husband, Bernard, of Effort, Jo Ellen Moll and her partner, Tim Conover, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., and Kerrie Jones and her partner, Randy Hoffman, of Whitehall; three step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his lifelong friend Jim Yeager.
He was predeceased by his brother Geoffrey Graul.
A celebration of his Life will be at a later date.
