On Site Custom 3D printed casts

Both traditional plaster and fiberglass casts are now being replaced by ActivArmor of Colorado’s new technology. The casts are removable, waterproof and durable three-dimensional plastic casts.

Those days may soon be over, thanks to new technology created by ActivArmor of Colorado. The new removable, waterproof and durable 3D printed plastic casts have been in use at St. Luke’s Orthopedic Care for more than a year.

Recently, St. Luke’s became the first in the nation to use its in-house 3D Print and Innovation Lab to produce ActivArmor casts for upper extremity injuries. The casts are typically covered by medical insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid.
