Ethan B. Rice grew up in Bethlehem

Ethan B. Rice, 95, of Fellowship Community Villa, Whitehall, and long-time resident of Fullerton, died Jan. 4, 2023. He grew up in Bethlehem and was a son of the Charles and Neta (Miller) Rice. He was the husband of the late Joan (Schlecht) Rice for 65 years.

He was, post World War II, in the U.S. Army’s occupation and rehabilitation forces in Japan.

He was an auto mechanic, mostly at Key Pontiac, Bethlehem, where he was named “Master Service Craftsman” by Pontiac Motor Divison. He retired in 1992.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.

His scroll saw creations won the Mae R. Kutz Award for Grand Champion for Handcrafts at the 2001 Allentown Fair.

He is survived by two nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Franklin and Bertram; and three sisters, Pauline (Whitehead), Octavia (Sensenbach) and Gloria (Fitch).
