MLK Day March set for Jan. 16
The Dr. Martin Luther King Civil Rights Movement March is scheduled to take place rain or shine on Jan. 16. The procession will begin at 11:30 a.m. in front of the St. Bernard’s Beneficial Society, 333 Brodhead Ave., and proceed to Martin Luther King Park on Carlton Avenue, the location of memorials to both Dr. King and his wife, Coretta Scott King.
Guest speakers and honored guests scheduled to attend are Northampton County Judge of the Court of Common Pleas Jennifer Sletvold; Chief of Staff for Pennsylvania Senator Lisa Boscola Joe Kelly; Northampton County District Attorney Terry Houck; Northampton County Councilman Kerry Myers; and, Bethlehem Mayor J. William Reynolds.
A monument to civil rights marchers is scheduled to be dedicated.

Holy Ghost hosts MLK celebration on Jan. 16
The NAACP Bethlehem invites the community to the 2023 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Celebration at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 16, in Church Hall at Holy Ghost Church, 417 Carlton Ave., Bethlehem. Lunch will be provided.
The program features Liberty HS color guard and chorus, the En L’Air Dance Compoany, MLK essay contest winners and the Rev. Karl Holmes.

Dementia support group meets 3rd Thursday
Lamont McClure announces that the Division of Area Agency on Aging will host a Dementia Support Group at the Dept. of Human Services building at 2801 Emrick Blvd., Bethlehem, on the third Thursday of each month from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Participants will receive practical caregiving information, get mutual support, learn about local community resources and find solutions to challenging behaviors.

Valley Youth program has new home
Valley Youth House’s Project Silk Lehigh Valley is moving to 1101 Hamilton St., Suite 102, Allentown, in the Hamilton Business Center and will re-open Jan. 17.
Project Silk Lehigh Valley is an LGBTQ+ inclusive drop-in program that is youth-led, adult-supported, and offers a wide variety of free services. Project Silk Lehigh Valley offers a safe and affirming space for young people ages 14 to 29 who are members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies. Project Silk Lehigh Valley provides access to HIV and STI testing, active recreation, peer support, counseling, education on health and social topics, food and emergency supplies.
Weekly drop-in hours are Monday through Thursday from 1-7 p.m. Mondays are especially designed for 18+ and Fridays are reserved for appointments and special events. Testing and counseling appointments can also be made for other times.
