The rivalry between the Parkland and Emmaus high school swim teams is more than hype.
Last Thursday another chapter between the Trojans and Green Hornets was written as the Parkland girls earned an impressive road win over Emmaus, 111-75.
Parkland has talent, depth, and desire and all three attributes were on display. Simone Lin, Kelsey McPeek, Milla Hahn and Madison Roseman won the 200-yard medley relay by more than five seconds over their Emmaus challengers. Lin, Hahn and Roseman later showcased their individual talents, with Lin winning the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Hahn taking the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly and Roseman finishing first in the 50-yard freestyle.
There was drama in the 100-yard freestyle as Parkland’s Ashley Settle and Roseman tied for first with 56.03 times. There was no drama in the 500-yard freestyle as the Trojans’ Julianne Zaffiro won by nearly nine seconds over the second-place finisher.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay Parkland’s Kelsey McPeek, Mackenzie Platt, Hahn and Roseman displayed superb teamwork in claiming the win. Settle won the 100-yard breaststroke outright and then teamed up with Natasha Goldman, Platt and Lin the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Trojan divers also performed well as Johanna Cook won the one-meter contest.
