The Parkland boys swimming team’s trek south on Cedar Crest Boulevard last Thursday ended in disappointment as the Trojans lost to Emmaus, 125-58.
The Hornets took first place in every swimming event of the boys meet, but a few Trojans did offer quality performances. Parkland’s highlight of the meet came during the diving event as Ryan Beltrame took first place as the Trojans swept the top three place with Bradley Kunz taking second and Harry Epstein in third place.
“Our three male divers are all returning from last year and all look to have solid seasons with the goals of learning new dives and placing in the district meet,” said Parkland head coach Allison McPeek said.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Gabe Krizel, Blaine Christ, Colton Chung and Anshul Dadayyapally finished third, 4.73 seconds off the pace. Krizel then did some strong solo work in the 200-yard IM finishing third, and in the 100-yard backstroke he took second.
Another foursome comprised of Doug Bell, Dannik Khais, Marcus Moreef and Dadayyapally had a good 200-yard freestyle relay race, finishing second. The 400-yard freestyle relay team featuring Eric Friday, Chung, Khais and Moreef did some fine swimming in finished second.
Moreef may have earned the hard luck award this afternoon. He finished .4 of one second off the pace in the 50-yard freestyle race, which was good only for third place. Moreef, a fine swimmer, clocked in at 23.14. He took second also in the 100-yard freestyle. Chung experienced similar disappointment in his 100-yard butterfly race as he was stroke-for-stroke with Emmaus’ Anderson Borst virtually throughout but finished less than two seconds behind.
