Edith J. “Edie” Gliem, 84, of Macungie, died Dec. 26, 2022, in Complete Care at Lehigh Center. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Howard J. and Altheda I. (Duser) Gleim.
She received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Penn University, Philadelphia and her master’s in nursing from Cal State, Los Angeles, Calif. She had an extreme love of the nursing profession, having worked as an RN, nursing instructor and nursing home administrator for over four decades, showing compassion and love in the care of her patients and retiring in 2006.
She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, where she served as the parish nurse since 2007 and was a communion server.
She was active with Meals on Wheels, YWCA of Bethlehem, an animal lover and a great Phillies fan with her great-great nephew, Nate for 12 years.
She is survived by a niece, Donna and her husband, Larry Falcone; great-nieces, Lisa and her husband, Scott Williams and Gina and her husband, Dan Moore; great-great nieces and nephews, Corey and Evan Williams, Nathaniel and Mackenzie Moore.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Jan. 5 in The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Emmaus. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
