Macungie borough Council approved the 2023 budget at a special meeting Dec. 12 with no increase in taxes. The millage remains the same as this year.

Council also approved the funding of the Emmaus Public Library.

Fees such as rentals, permits and others have increased approximately 8-10%.

Council approved an additional public works staff member.

An additional police officer was also approved as well as a part-time code enforcement officer.

Macungie has several ongoing projects. Stone Hill Meadows is almost completed. Fields at Brookside has begun which should take about two years to complete. Main Street Commons has begun. The South Church Street and Hickory Street Bridge project will begin in spring 2023.
