Only two of Bethlehem’s three local teams will be hitting the road this week for holiday basketball tournaments, as Bethlehem Catholic gets the week off to refresh themselves before getting back to action again on January 3.
The Golden Hawks were scheduled to play at a tournament in Delaware this week, but the event was overbooked and Becahi was forced to drop out, giving them some time at home to relax and work on things in practice.
The Hawks (6-2) have won five straight games, including two league victories over Northampton and Central Catholic last week.
Liberty (5-2) will stay close to home this week playing in the Allen Holiday Showcase on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Hurricanes play Allen on Tuesday night with the championship game slated for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The two other teams in the event are W.T. Woodson (VA) and Hazleton. The consolation game is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday as well.
Freedom (5-3) will participate in the Pine Grove Holiday Tourney, opening up with the hosts on Tuesday. Northampton and Pocono Mountain East are the other entrants in the tourney.
The championship (4:30 p.m.) and consolation game (3 p.m.) will take place on Wednesday evening.
