The Stroudsburg wrestling team brought a perfect 7-0 record into Pete Schneider Gymnasium last Wednesday to try their hand at upsetting a Konkrete Kids squad ranked 6th in AAA in Pennsylvania by PA Power Wrestling. The Kids lived up to their billing by winning 10 of 13 bouts to secure a 49-12 win.

Matthew Sommer got Northampton off to a good start by scoring 3 back points at the end of his bout against Jack Jasionowicz to turn a decision into a major, 8-0.

Kids’ head coach Joe Provini spoke about his 107-pounder, “Matthew Sommer back in the lineup, wrestled really tough. It was great to see him out there. The team was really happy to get him back out there. He’s been banged up left and right so far this season.”

Zayne Dayoub came out hunting for a pin and after notching a pair of nearfalls in the first period, he put away Hunter Brown in an even 3 minutes at 114.

At 121, Carson Wagner racked up 7 takedowns to score a 14-5 major over last year’s District XI AAA 3rd place finisher at 107, Zachary Berwick.

Trey Wagner continued an impressive start (10-3) to his freshman season by pinning returning district placewinner Jake Brown in 3:32 to claim 6 team points at 127.

At 133, Aiden Micheli dominated his way to a 16-6 major decision over Aamir Sohail.

Austin Noe picked up his third fall of the year, pinning Michael Ortiz in 3:16 to win at 139.

At 145, Mason Basara posted a worry-free 12-2 major decision over Luc DeBaptiste.

Stroudsburg’s Adim Ogbolu hit a 4-point move with 15 seconds left in the bout to deny Devlin Chevere at 152. The 8-6 decision gave the Mountaineers their first team points, but the Kids mathematically clinched the dual by leading 34-3 with 5 bouts to go.

Billy Stuhldreher was in control of his match against Marcus Ennis, leading 7-0 when he finally secured the fall at 3:42 at 160.

Dagan Condomitti was up 11-3 in his 172-pound bout before decking Christian London at the 1:50 mark.

Provini evaluated Condomitti’s performance, “Dagen’s Dagen but he moved way better tonight than even at the Beast (of the East, where he finished second), so that was good to see.”

Landon Roland fought back from 7-0 down but came up short, losing 7-3 at 189.

At 215, Joe Doumat made his season debut by gutting out an 11-6 decision over Ryan Bolds. Provini commented on Doumat’s return, “It was great to have Joe out. He’s such an athlete. We wanted to get him a match before the Holiday Classic. To see him get out there do his stuff and fight through every position was awesome.”

Brandon McIntire was pinned in 2:22 by Nicholas Khamis after taking bottom to start the second period in a scoreless match.

The only action the K-Kids will have until next Wednesday’s highly anticipated dual meet with Nazareth is the completion of the Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic tournament at Liberty High School today. The action will start at 10 am with the afternoon session going off at 2 pm. The finals are slated for approximately 4:30. All-day Thursday admission is $12 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.
