PRESS PHOTOS BY DONNA GEWERTZ And they're off! Fifty-eight runners brave the cold and rain Dec. 3 to take part in the sixth annual Jingle Bell Run, sponsored by Whitehall Area Rotary Club. The Christmas-themed race, which features both runners and walkers, was held along the Ironton Rail Trail loop beginning and ending near the Coplay Parkway section of the trail.
Heeding the call of Run, Run Rudolph, from left, Marie and Elizabeth Smith, of Slatington, and Dawn Barry of Westtown, N.Y., turn out in their best reindeer costumes to participate in the annual event.
Diane Davidson, with Keller Williams, the official hot cocoa provider of this year's Jingle Bell Run, visits with Santa Claus to discuss the festivities.
A race participant is thankful for Rudolf's guiding nose as she sports a poncho to protect her reindeer costume from the rain.
The volunteer crew from Whitehall Area Rotary Club gathers to display the official 2022 Jingle Bell Run T-shirts that are given to each participant. More than 100 participants registered for the race.
Clarissa Simmons and Alex Gonzales, with Catasauqua High School Interact Club, volunteer to staff the hot cocoa bar during the event. The cold and rainy weather made the warm beverage a welcomed treat for runners and walkers.
