Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin and Capt. Derek Koch, Pennsylvania State Police, Troop M, announced an arrest Dec. 22 in a fatal crash that occurred Sept. 2 in Hanover Township.
Catherine Ann Neelon, 55, died from blunt force injuries caused by the crash, according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office. Brian C. McGoldrick, 42, of Glenside, has been charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, both felonies of the second degree; DUI/blood-alcohol content of 0.16% and greater and DUI/unsafe driving, both misdemeanors of the first degree; and related charges of reckless driving, careless driving, failing to keep right, driving at safe speed and disregarding traffic lanes.
At 11:02 p.m. Sept. 2, state police were called to a two-vehicle crash on Airport Road, south of Catasauqua Road, in Hanover Township, Lehigh County. An investigation revealed that McGoldrick’s car, a 2018 Toyota Prius, was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Airport Road when it struck Neelon’s vehicle, a 2009 Toyota Yaris, head on.
According to Martin’s announcement of charges, approximately one hour and 10 minutes after the crash occurred, McGoldrick’s BAC by blood analysis was 0.263%. He was, therefore, driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, Martin said.
