Coplay Borough Council held its final meeting of the year Dec. 19.
After the approval of minutes from the meeting Dec. 13, unfinished business was addressed. President Lou Bodish called upon council member Janet Eisenhauer to note any changes in the proposed 2023 budget.
Eisenhauer stated there are no changes to the budget as presented earlier in the month and the total 2023 budget remains at $3,211,620.
Council then proceeded to resolutions and ordinances, which required a roll-call vote. First on the agenda was a motion to adopt resolution 1493, accepting the 2023 budget for receipts and expenditures. Council voted, and the motion carried.
A motion was made to adopt resolution 1494 establishing garbage rates for 2023 at $370 per year for regular households and $330 for senior citizen households with a discount of 10% if paid by March 31, 2023. These rates do not include an increase.
Rates for business establishments will range from $480.70 to $5,060 per year with the same 10% discount.
The ordinance further states, “and establishing 2% commission to the tax collector for collection of these fees and the borough office to collect outstanding 2022 fees.”
All council members present voted in favor of this motion, and it carried.
Ordinance 857, which set the real estate rate for 2023 at 8.09 mills, was voted upon and approved.
The next council workshop will be 7 p.m. Jan. 3, 2023.
