Chukoskie earns All-MAC Third Team honors at LVC

Several former Northwestern Lehigh area athletes competed on college athletic teams during the fall 2022 season. Some are in their fourth or fifth year of postsecondary education and missed entire seasons in 2021 due to the pandemic. On the other hand, many freshmen and sophomores are competing for playing time with graduate students and fifth-year seniors. Here’s a look at some former Tigers who are now competing at the next level.

Sophomore midfielder Greenleigh McGehee played in 17 games this season for the Kutztown University field hockey team. The former Tiger recorded three goals and two assists for the Golden Bears (16-3 overall; 8-1 PSAC), who earned the top seed in the PSAC playoffs before falling to East Stroudsburg in the league tournament.

Lauren Shellhamer started all 18 games for the University of Vermont field hockey team this fall. A sophomore midfielder/defender, she scored one goal and assisted on another. In two seasons the former Tiger has played in 36 games for the Catamounts.

Ally Myers started 17 games for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania field hockey team in 2022. The junior has played in 33 games over two season and has scored one goal from her backfield position.

Charlotte Horn started 14 games for the St. Mary’s College field hockey team this fall. A sophomore defender, Horn posted one goal and one assist in her second college season. She has started all 31 games she appeared in since joining the Seahawks program.

Freshman Brynn Balliet played in 16 games and made one start for the Washington College field hockey team in 2022. The forward/midfielder recorded one goal in her first college season.

Sophomore Tess Ledeboer started all 18 games this fall for the Juniata College field hockey team. The sophomore defender scored five goals on 10 shots and now has six career goals and has played in 18 games both of the past two seasons.

Senior Sydney Derr played in all 18 games this fall for the Bloomsburg University field hockey team. The forward, who pole vaults on the Husky track and field team in spring seasons, scored three goals this season and has five and one assist over her three-season career in which she’s played in 38 games.

Freshman forward/midfielder Charlize Bobbyn played in 14 games and had one goal in her first season with the Elizabethtown College field hockey team.

Junior Bailey Dejesus played in 15 games and made seven starts for the Wilkes University field hockey team. The midfielder scored one goal for the Colonels this fall.

Sophomore wide receiver Justin Rodda played in seven games this season for the Moravian College football team, while senior long snapper Sam Yadush played in one game at Moravian this fall.

New Tripoli’s Matt Rauscher, an Allentown Central Catholic graduate, is a member of the Lehigh University football team, listed as a sophomore quarterback on the 2022 roster.

Freshman defensive lineman Ben Dunstan played in one game this season for the Wilkes University football team.

Senior Zach Creighton played in 18 games and made 11 starts for the Lebanon Valley College mens soccer team in 2022. The midfielder had two assists this season and has four assists and one goal while playing in 39 games over three seasons.

Freshman Colin Coffield played in six games for the Millersville University mens soccer team. The midfielder/defender logged 61 minutes and four shots to help the Marauders go 10-3-5 overall and 6-2-4 in PSAC games.

Junior Bailey Groff started in 15 games this fall for the Elizabethtown College womens soccer team. The defender/midfielder has started 28 games and played in 29 over the past two seasons.

Sophomore Kayla Bardonner played in 15 games and made four starts for the Eastern University womens soccer team in 2022. The midfielder has played in 25 games and started six over the past two seasons.

Sophomore midfielder/forward Lexi Bleam played in 15 games for the DeSales University womens soccer team in 2022. She scored one goal and assisted on two for the Bulldogs (13-7-2).

Two Northwestern Lehigh graduates are part of the mens cross country team at Lebanon Valley College. Freshman Joe Chukoskie earned All-MAC Third Team honors with a 25th place finish at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships. He was fourth among first-year runners and third on his team, helping Lebanon Valley College to a fifth-place team finish out of 18 schools competing at the event. Junior Joe Pleban finished 49th overall and eighth on the team in that event. Jacob Creitz, a graduate student, ran in several meets this fall, with his top finishing coming at the season-opening Alumni 5k when he finished 34th overall.

Senior Meghan McDonald ran a career-best time of 26:36.0 at the Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships, placing 48th overall at the event. McDonald and her Susquehanna University team finished third in team standings at the event.

Former Tiger golfer Joey Frey competed in one match this fall for the Muhlenberg College golf team. He shot 91 at the FDU Invitational on Sept. 20.

Luke Hallman played one round for the DeSales University golf team in the fall of 2022, shooting 88 at the Muhlenberg Invitational on Oct. 10.
