The 2023 budget was approved at the Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting Dec. 15. It was a unanimous approval with Commissioners Ron Beitler and Richard Ward being absent. The budget was approved with no increase in taxes but a slight increase in sewer fees.
The sewer fees were increased slightly to $67 per quarter with $1.60 per gallon flow charge.
The Homestead Exemption rate was set at $119,500, up from 2021’s rate of $118,925. This rate is based on assessed value of the property which is 50% of the value.
The 2023 fee schedule was approved. This schedule covers building permits, land development fees, recreation activities and rentals, among others.
Resolution 2022-88 was approved. This authorizes a grant application for the Sanitary Sewer Infrastructure Rehabilitation.
Resolution 2022-89 authorizes a grant application for Spring Creek Swale Riparian Buffer. This is an MS4 project and was approved.
A grant is being sought for the storm sewer pipe rehabilitation, an ongoing project of lining sewers to prolong life of pipes. The grant application was approved.
Cintas was approved for a 5-year contract for uniforms and floor mats.
Keycodes Inspection Agency was approved to extend their contract for building inspections.
Lutron was recognized as a great supporter of the township. They have given the Lower Macungie Township Fire Department $2,000. They have also supported the Ambulance Corps. by giving them $1,000.
Board of commissioners meetings will begin 6 p.m. as of Jan. 5, 2023.
