Catasauqua: Catasauqua thrift shop closed for holiday, will reopen Jan. 2

Catasauqua Community Thrift Shop, 113 Bridge St., close Dec. 22-31 for the Christmas holiday.

The shop will reopen Jan. 2, 2023.

Shop volunteers are happy to accept donations of good, used, clean clothing items during store hours, which are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Proceeds from the thrift shop are returned to the community through contributions that support youth and adult programs and services.

Immerse yourself in a colonial Christmas experience 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 7, 2023, at the George Taylor House, Lehigh and Poplar streets.

The group’s living history volunteers will guide you through the mansion and show you how the holidays were celebrated in the 18th century. You will be surrounded by the aromas of the past with a historical cooking demonstration. Your tour includes cocoa and a sweet treat.

The cost of admission for children under 12 and those with a military ID is free.

Holy Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, Fourth and Pine streets, continues its Warm Up Wednesdays initiative 4:30-6 p.m. This free, hot soup distribution is open to the church family and the entire Catasauqua community.

Catasauqua High School is looking for a field hockey coach for the 2023-24 academic year for an established high school field hockey program. Previous experience as a varsity head coach or assistant coach in a successful program is preferred.
