During the Dec. 1 Lower Macungie Township Board of Commissioners meeting, Resolution 2022-81 was approved for a modification in the original plan for the Wawa drive-thru at the Trexlertown Business Center, 6216 Hamilton Blvd.
After reviewing other like businesses, it was determined others had later drive-thru times.
Originally, Wawa’s drive-thru hours were to be 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The times have been changed in this resolution to 5 a.m. to midnight.
The resolution was approved.
Commissioners also approved the Mertztown Road subdivision resolution. The development is located at 8741 and 8899 Mertztown Road. It has determined Upper Macungie Township does not want street connections in this development but sidewalks will be permissible.
In other meeting news Nihal Raval resigned from the township’s planning commission.
Rebecca George, the Emmaus High School athletic director, sent a letter to request usage of the Church Lane baseball fields. The request was approved.
The commissioners were reminded of the suggested extension of this issue to have an extended time instead of having this done every year.
There was an executive session about litigation.
There was a consideration for compensation settlement agreement on the Dorney Open Space condemnation. This was approved by the board of commissioners. This project has allowed another 100 acres of open space in the township.
Resolution 2022-84 is for the implementation of Act 57, which allows for waiving charges for real estate taxes. This resolution was approved.
Resolution 2022-79 was approved. The resolution adopts sewer tapping fee calculations and a schedule of fees.
Resolution 2022-83 allows for approving the increase for the tax collector bond.
