Grace Lutheran Church, 28 W. Main St., offers a free community meal as a drive-up option. The next meal will be 4-5:30 p.m. Dec. 9.

Grace Lutheran Church holds a weekly food distribution 2-4 p.m. every Wednesday – Dec. 7, 14, 21 and 28. Signs will be posted with directions for parking and pickup.

Macungie Holiday will be held Dec. 10. The Santa parade will be held 2:30-3:30 p.m. and Santa will visit Macungie Memorial Park 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade route is available at macungieholiday.com.

A Festival of Wreaths can be seen at Out of Our Minds Art Studio. There will also be a borough-wide scavenger hunt 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; horse-drawn surrey rides 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a holiday craft show at Macungie Memorial Park 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the 20th annual Gingerbread display at Kalmbach 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be a Macungie Institute Kids Christmas with art activities, princesses, a Giving Tree, scavenger hunt prizes and a Boy Scout hot dog and soda sale as well as harp music from Thompson School of Music. Come see the Grinch in jail at the Macungie Police Department.

Macungie Holiday is also sponsoring a house decorating contest for all businesses and residences in Macungie Borough. Enter by emailing macungieholidayhousecontest@gmail.com with your name, phone number and address.

Judging will take place 5-8 p.m. Dec. 17. Prizes will be awarded and winners will be announced on the Macungie Holiday Facebook page Dec. 18.

As we get older, Matt and I find we are more easily distracted. This morning Matt put the dogs out in the backyard and came in saying, “It’s really cold out. It’s ...” There was a pause as he looked at his phone and finished his sentence, “65.” Ben and I both stared at him and I said, “That doesn’t sound very cold to me.” Matt looked confused for a second and replied, “Oh, I was looking at a different app. It’s 30 degrees out.” We all had a good laugh!
