ACCHS football advances to state semifinals

After defeating Jersey Shore 38-31 Nov. 18, the Vikings moved on to the state quarterfinals to play the District 10 champ Meadville, who had a record of 12-1. Allentown Central Catholic High School beat Meadville in an impressive victory of 50-7 at Bald Eagle Area High School Nov. 25 and were named No. 3 in 4A football. They played Aliquippa Dec. 2 in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association 4A state semifinal.
Basketball season passes are available for purchase for all ACCHS fans. The passes may be used at both boys and girls home games. All Central students are admitted free. Thank you for supporting Viking basketball.
The ACCHS swim and dive team is holding a holiday ham fundraiser. In your order you will receive a boneless uncured smoked Boar’s Head ham in natural juices and a brown sugar and spice glaze in a decorative box. Hams are fully cooked and may be heated before serving. Checks should be made out to “ACCHS Booster Club” and delivered to the athletic office. Consult a swim team member to order your ham by Dec. 13. Pickup will be at St. Thomas More, 1040 Flexer Ave, Allentown 5-6 p.m. Dec. 22. Contact Dana Norris at 610-295-2368 with any questions.
Freshmen can purchase their ACCHS Class of 2026 shirts at this time. Order forms were given to freshmen homerooms. Please give your order with a check or cash to Mr. Bayer in Room 110 or Miss Villegas in Room 7 by Dec. 9.
Families registering for the 2023-2024 school year may be added to Central’s $3,000 tuition credit raffle. Apply by Dec. 31 in time for the second drawing, or by Jan. 31, 2023 for the final drawing. Viking Nation is getting into the holiday spirit, with many festive activities throughout he month of December. The band and chorus concert will be held 7-8 p.m. Dec. 7. Come and support the ACCHS music department.
The Class of 2024 Student Council is sponsoring a gingerbread house decorating competition 6-9 p.m. Dec. 8 in Masson Auditorium.
Students may participate alone or with teams. There is a cost per team at the door and first, second and third place prizes will be awarded for the best decorated gingerbread house.
The Class of 2025 Student Council will hold a Christmas Extravaganza 5-8 p.m. Dec. 9 in Masson Auditorium. There is a charge at the door and students may bring cash for food and drinks. The night will include Christmas themed games and activities, with prizes for the winners and those wearing the most festive Christmas attire.
A casual spirit day will be held Dec. 9 for anyone that donated to the National Honor Society Food Drive before Thanksgiving. NHS is also sponsoring a toy drive Dec. 12-22.
Finally, Central’s annual 40 Hours Devotion will be Dec. 15 and 16. Students will be dismissed 1 p.m. Dec. 16. 40 hours is open to families and alumni 3-7 p.m. Dec. 15 for quiet Adoration and 7-9:45 p.m. for praise and worship.
