2023 borough fees approved
Macungie Mayor Ron Conrad expressed his gratitude to all involved in the tree lighting at the Dec. 5 Macungie Borough Council meeting.
He specifically thanked the police and fire department for traffic control, the town beautification committee and the various groups assisting during the event distributing hot chocolate and other snacks.
Ordinance 2022-01 was introduced dedicating Sugarloaf Circle, Sawgrass Circle, Sonoma Way and a portion of Willow Lane to the borough of Macungie.
The ordinance states “Macungie Borough Council has determined that it would be in the best interests of the general health, safety and welfare of the borough to accept dedication of Sugarloaf Circle, Sawgrass Circle, Sonoma Way and a portion of Willow Lane as public borough roads ...” These roads are in the Estates at Brookside development.
There will be a planning commission meeting 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20 regarding STACK Storage.
The Macungie Institute continues hosting community events. The book club, kids’ Thanksgiving craft project and holiday card-making for military personnel are some of these events.
There is also an Angel Tree event for residents of Willows Senior Center. This will benefit all residents of the facility.
Macungie Institute is also a drop-off location for Toys for Tots through Dec. 10.
The holiday card signing for military personnel will continue through Dec. 10.
Future events for 2023 include craft night, crocheting lessons, skin care lecture, painting flowerpots, a seniors holiday luncheon and more.
The 2023 borough fee schedule was discussed and voted upon. Resolution 2022-23 is the proposed fee schedule and was approved. The fee schedule can be found on the borough website.
Council Member Ron Karboski suggested contributions made to the borough or the various groups should be documented via a form. This will be further discussed.
Macungie Borough Council will next meet 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19 at the Macungie Institute, 510 E. Main St., Macungie.
