LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Girls look to challenge this year

Whitehall’s girls basketball team faced a tripleheader of preseason competition at the Emmaus Fall Classic, taking on Emmaus, East Stroudsburg South, and Pocono Mountain West on Nov. 5 in preparation for the 2022-2023 season.

Whitehall head coach Will Robertson, assisted by Tony Marsicano, Kelly Robertson, Kristen Windsor, Kat Patterson, and Mackenzie McVicker, also entered his Zephyrs in the Holy Family Tournament this past summer and the Parkland Summer League.

Key returners for the Zephyrs are Bella Fonzone, MJ Dunbar, Ciara Rogers, and Jade Alvarez.

“We do not have captains,” Robertson said. “We rotate that responsibility each game with my starters.”

Whitehall’s season opener ended in a 55-35 loss to Northwestern Lehigh on Dec. 3.

“Northwestern has a complete team with very good inside and perimeter players,” said Robertson. “We will challenge other teams with our athleticism and hustle.”

Bella Fonzone is a key, returning player for the Whitehall girls team.
