William I. Dorward, 72, of Allentown, died Dec. 9, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Jane Ann (Harris) Dorward, with whom he shared over 51 years of marriage. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Adolf and Elizabeth Grossman.
He worked over 30 years as a sheet metal worker for Local #19, while serving as an organizer and business agent for the last 18 years of his service before retiring. He also received a 50 year membership award.
After graduating from Dieruff High School in 1968, he was the last U.S. Army soldier drafted from the Lehigh Valley during the Vietnam Era.
He enjoyed spending free time at the Unami Fish and Game Association, Emmaus and enjoyed boating and fishing with his wife at Lake Nockamixon. Mostly, he will be remembered for the love he had for his family, especially his four grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; sons, William C. and his wife, Amy, of Kutztown, Michael T. and his wife, Kristen, of Macungie; grandchildren, Avery Jane, Aiden, Ella and Mackenzie; sister-in-law, Juan Saye Harris and nephews, Spencer and Trevor; as well as many other extended family and friends. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Richard W.

Services will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 16 a the Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St., Allentown. Calling will begin 9 a.m.
