Bach’s “Christmas Oratorio” Parts 4, 5 and 6 at 4 p.m. Dec. 10, First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, Cedar Crest Boulevard and Tilghman Street, Allentown, and 4 p.m. Dec. 11, First Presbyterian Church, 2344 Center St., Bethlehem. The 4 p.m. Dec. 11 concert is livestreamed. Dr. Christopher Jackson, who was named this year as the seventh Artistic Director and Conductor of The Bach Choir of Bethlehem, will conduct the Bach Choir and Bach Festival Orchestra in the concerts. The Bach Choir performed the “Christmas Oratorio” Parts 1, 2 and 3 in December 2021 at First Presbyterian of Allentown and First Presbyterian of Bethlhehem. Priot to that, three parts of the “Christmas Oratorio” were last performed in 2015. The Bach Choir Christmas concerts began in 1985 for the tercentennial of Bach’s birth. The first United States’ performance of the “Christmas Oratorio” was in 1901 and repeated in 1904 in Bethlehem by the Bach Choir.
