Margaret “Maggie” S. Hilbert, 81, of Allentown, died Dec. 3, 2022. She was the wife of the late Donald R. Hilbert and the late Anthony J. Verzino Sr.
Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph F. and Marie (Zorn) Spindler.
She was a 1959 graduate of the final class of the former Allentown High School and was active in the reunion committee.
She was a member of the former St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown.
She was a member the German American Club, formerly the Lehigh Saengerbund, and the Whitehall Area Chamber of Commerce.
Active in the Democratic Party all her life, she was the current president of the Women’s Democratic Club of Lehigh County, a board member of the Pennsylvania Federation of Democratic Women and a past Democratic Committeewoman of Lower Macungie Township. She was the recipient of the Democratic Committee of Lehigh County’s Mae Boemio Woman of the Year award.
She is survived by a son, Anthony J. Verzino Jr. of Catasauqua; a daughter, Melissa A. Hilbert of Allentown; a grandson, Giovanni Verzino; and cousins and extended family in Remlingen, Germany.
She was predeceased by a son, Gregory M. Verzino.
There will be a calling time 9-10:45 a.m., followed by a service 11 a.m., both Dec. 9 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., Whitehall.
