Geraldine S. Schmeltzle, 90, of Emmaus, died Nov. 29, 2022. She was the wife of the late George H. Schmeltzle Jr., who died Dec. 25, 2010, after almost 60 years of marriage. She was the daughter of the late Jonas and Carrie (Schuler) DeFrain.

She was previously employed at the former Shaffer Hosiery Mill in Emmaus and William Atkin’s Shirt Factory, Allentown, retiring after her second child was born to raise her five children.

She was a member of The ARC and a volunteer of their Evening Rec. program for more than 20 years.

She was a member of the Emmaus, Macungie and Allentown historical societies.

She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and most of all, watching General Hospital and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by daughters, Carol (Dwight) Nadig, of Sun City, Ariz. and their daughter, Scoti Ann Samant; Lori Ann (Phillip) Tarboro, of Bethlehem and their children, Mariah Rising, Kirsten and Justus; sons, Craig (Linda), of Lancaster and their children, Cari Ann Sumpman and Tony Nigro; Chris (Karen), of Emmaus and their children, Matthew, Daniel and Trevor; Kevin, of Reading; four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by twin sons; brothers, Clifford, William, Walter and Timothy; sisters, Violet, Gertie, Erma, Althea, Betty, Dorothy, Mildred, Mamie and Viola.
