Chambers merge to strengthen business community support

Northampton Area Chamber of Commerce and Greater Bath Area Chamber of Commerce are merging to strengthen support for the business community.

This merger will encompass all businesses within the Northampton Area School District footprint, including the boroughs of Bath and Northampton, as well as the townships of Allen, East Allen and Moore.

This Chamber will remain a partner of Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“We are emboldened by this move to ensure our committees and members are best served by our local Chamber, enabling us to provide our time-held traditional events and bring new initiatives to ensure the success of the business community within our footprint,” said Jessica O’Donnell-Gower, executive vice president of affiliated chambers and northern tier with GLVCC. “These events have included, and will continue to include, Northampton Borough’s Uptown Northampton Street Fair, Bath Borough’s Spuds and Suds Festival, the music festival in East Allen Township, Northampton Area Restaurant Week and Christmas at the Roxy Theatre.

“We will continue to support our business community with mixers, ribbon cuttings and other opportunities to shine a spotlight on the fantastic organizations within our footprint,” O’Donnell-Gower added.

Additional benefits of the merger include a dedicated GLVCC staff, supportive of the efforts; an annual budget amount earmarked for the scholarship fund, benefiting graduating seniors within Northampton Area School District footprint; a strengthened board increased in number; updated bylaws reflective of the mission; an updated branding and logo reflective of the joined Chambers; greater opportunities for participation from the membership to serve on more diverse and community-serving committees; and staffing the newly joined Chamber including O’Donnell-Gower, Nicole Miles and Kate Hartney.
