Liberty girls show their support

Liberty HS’s girls volleyball team recently made a $3,000 donation to Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.

Liberty held a “Pink Out” Volleyball match against Lehigh Valley rival Nazareth Blue Eagles. The event included a basket raffle with over 50 baskets and donations from various businesses throughout the Lehigh Valley. Sponsors included Pat’s Pizza & Bistro in Bethlehem, Univest Bank, and Paranee Properties. With proceeds from the event, the Hurricanes were able to donate generously to help those fighting Cancer.

“The young women on the Liberty volleyball team encompass the values of hard work and dedication on and off the court,” said Liberty HS Girls Volleyball Head Coach Connor Swigart. “This year’s event was bigger than ever, with so much community support. We’re thankful for the opportunity to give back and make a difference.”

Amanda Buss, executive director of Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley, was in attendance during the event.

“Because of your generosity, we are able to offer psychosocial support services as an integral part of comprehensive cancer care,” Buss said. “Our support groups, educational programs, and healthy activities help participants regain control in managing their health, reduce stress and isolation, and restore a sense of hope for an improved quality of life during treatment and in survivorship.”

Cancer Support Community’s mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community so that no one faces cancer alone.
