LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Enjoy holiday music at winter concerts

The Salisbury Elementary School Holiday Shop is in full swing and still looking for volunteers to help the students shop and bag gifts. This fun event runs through Dec. 2. The SES Facebook page has a complete list of when each class is visiting the shop and how many volunteers are needed. There is also a link to a sign-up genius to volunteer. Imagine 20 students in a room of goodies with no concept of money and a list of family members to buy for. Help is needed. Just make sure you don’t sign up for your own student’s class so you don’t see what they purchased for you!

Holiday concert time is upon us. The Salisbury High School winter concert will be 7 p.m. Dec. 1. Admission is free but there will be boxes to collect animal related items to support National Honor Society’s drive to benefit Feline Finish Line and Peaceable Kingdom. There will also be a box to collect items for the Third Street Alliance Women’s Shelter supported by G.I.V.E.

The Salisbury Middle School winter concert will be held 7 p.m. Dec. 8. Even if you do not have a student participating in the concert, consider coming out to enjoy the holiday music and support the Salisbury music program.

The SES holiday concert will be held 9:30 a.m. Dec. 16.

The next T-shirt day at SES is Dec. 2.

The next school board meeting will be held Dec. 7 at the administration building. A reorganization meeting will be 7 p.m. A work session will follow 7:15 p.m. and the regular board meeting 8 p.m.

Santa will be available for pictures at the South Mall, 3300 Lehigh St. starting Dec. 3. He will be there every weekend through Christmas.

Leaf collection is still ongoing in the township. Place clean leaves loosely on the curbside. They may not have any other branches or yard waste mixed in and may not be in bags. The township website will post where in the township the crews will be working.

Salisbury Township yard waste drop off sites are now closed for the year. They will reopen in April 2023.

The Allentown Public Library, 1210 Hamilton St., Allentown, will display some of the 400 dolls in its collection during the month of December. The vast assortment of dolls from many different countries were donated by Harriet Backenstoe and Dorothy Knauss to the Allentown Public Library.

Children age 6 and older can enjoy a gift making art class 3-4:30 p.m. Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and 15 at the Allentown Public Library.

There will be a holiday story time 10 a.m. Dec. 10 at the library with gift crafts for children 5 and under.

For more information on programs at the library, visit www.allentownpl.org or call 610-820-2400.
