Clean budges looks good for 2023

First reading of the proposed 2023 budget took place during the Nov. 21 Bethlehem Township Commissioners meeting Nov. 2.

Key points include $26,999,430 of total funds available, with estimated expenditures of $20,240,731. The projected fund balance is $6,578,699.

Two motions received unanimous approval.

The first authorized advertisement of property tax waivers, while the second will authorize a letter to the Federal Emergency Management Agency promising to commit $1.3 million if a $3 million grant is made toward the Easton Avenue flood mitigation project.

The meeting ended with a short discussion about the draft policy for naming parks and recreational facilities.

Board Vice President John Gallagher voiced his wish to “add or enhance the language for planting trees, as well as memorials.”

The next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
