Vikings win third straight District XI title

After a season of ups and downs, the Allentown Central Catholic High School football team earned its third straight District XI championship Nov. 12 against rival Becahi at Whitehall High School. The Vikings defeated Becahi 14-3, after a previous tough loss against the Hawks of 13-14 in overtime Oct. 28 at BASD Stadium. They advanced to play Jersey Shore in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association, Inc. state playoff game at Williamsport High School Nov. 18.
The winter sports season is quickly approaching, including ACCHS basketball. Fans can purchase passes for the season, which cover both boys and girls home games in famous Rockne Hall. Adult passes cost $40, senior citizen passes cost $25 and all ACCHS students are admitted free. For more information, email athletics@acchs.info.

Central will be closed for Thanksgiving break Nov. 23-28.
Picture retake day is Nov. 29.
A casual spirit day will be held Dec. 2 for anyone that makes a $2 donation.
Another casual spirit day is scheduled Dec. 9 for students who donated five or more items to the National Honor Society food drive Nov. 14-22. All food items helped to stock the Central City Project Food Pantry, to serve our neighbors in need during the holiday season.
Anyone that participated in the BFF Club Cookie Dough Fundraiser needs to pick up their orders Dec. 5 after school.
ACCHS musicians will showcase their talent during the band and chorus Christmas concert 7-8 p.m. Dec. 7. Come and get into the Christmas spirit with the ACCHS Music Department!
Central’s 40 Hours event will take place Dec. 15 and Dec. 16. 40 Hours will conclude Dec. 16 and students will be dismissed 1 p.m.
Any Class of 2022 graduates who ordered a 2021-2022 yearbook should pick it up between 3:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 23 in Massion Auditorium. If you cannot pick it up during that time, email Mrs. Ohl at yearbook@acchs.info to find another time, or wait until the December pickup date (TBD).
The ACCHS 2023 calendar raffle fundraiser is underway. Your family can lessen the fundraising fee from your total tuition balance by selling 12-month calendars. Each calendar has the opportunity to win monetary amounts for every day in 2023. Prize amounts are between $30 and $250. The calendar raffle order form can be found in the online weekly newsletter.
Support study halls and tutoring are being held numerous times during the second quarter for students seeking extra help.
Tutors from DeSales University meet 3-4 p.m. Wednesdays in Room 206 and are available to assist all students.
